Mothering the Mother.
“New mothers need to be mothered, to be nurtured and cared for by a support network that assists with physical recovery from birth, transition into infant care and the immense psychological leap into a new role.”

Postpartum Support
Traditional In-Home Postpartum Doula Support
Typically services used within the first 4 months after birth
Postpartum brings a mix of emotions, from joy to loss. It's okay to feel both. We openly discuss recovery, newborn care, and body changes as we navigate this journey together. It's a confusing, amazing, and challenging time, and you don't have to face it alone. When dealing with challenges like a tough birth or feeding issues, having an expert by your side is crucial.
In-home postpartum services provide invaluable support to the whole family during the post-birth period. I offer emotional, physical, and informational assistance, helping parents navigate the challenges of recovery, newborn care, and the emotional aspects of parenthood. With well over a decade of expertise, I ensure that you will have a smoother, more confident transition into this new phase of life.

As a non-judgmental caregiver, I assist the birthing parent with their recovery from the birth experience, allowing them to focus on the needs of the new baby, while keeping the household as "normal" as possible during this time of transition. I am able to help the new family by demonstrating practical newborn care and support the family in ways that are most helpful to them. Some things I may assist with are newborn care, birth recovery, feeding assistance, light cooking and household tasks, normalizing and help processing the transition to parenthood.
In-home Postpartum Support ranges between $65-75/hour.

Overnight support includes everything described in daytime support, but also includes baby care so the new parents can get much needed SLEEP. We work together to create an optimal sleeping and feeding plan whether it’s nursing, pumping and/or bottle. I support all types of sleeping arrangements to support your parenting preferences.
In-home Postpartum Support ranges between $65-75/hour.

Every family has unique needs, but some things I can assist with are the following: advice on infant and parent sleep patterns, breastfeeding/bottle feeding support and assistance, suggestions and assistance with mother's birth recovery, guidance on newborn care, recognizing and responding to postpartum mood disorders, providing referral resources within the family's community, light housekeeping and laundry, meal preparation (keeping cultural/religious traditions and recovery needs in mind!), assistance in sibling care, running errands, and baby product reviews and recommendations.

Postpartum Doulas are a soft place to fall when everything is changing and can feel overwhelming. We are a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear and a non-judgmental space to help you process this new adventure you’re on. We can help you process your birthing experience, normalize your experience of becoming a parent and help you navigate any bumps in the road that may come up. The road to parenthood is rarely an easy, smooth one, so we are hear to hold your hand and support you along side you while we figure this out together.

Typically when I arrive, we chat about what is currently happening with the birthing parent and baby. Then we talk about what would be most helpful for our time together. This usually is very different each time I come and I meet you wherever you are to be most helpful.

Typically in the beginning of our time together we spend about an hour discussing what is currently happening with the birthing parent and baby. As time moves on, this discussion time adjusts to the family’s needs and sometimes can even be less than 5 minutes to maximize sleep for parents. We discuss the feeding plan for the night (nursing, bottles, and/or pumping) and I take over baby care so you can rest and recover. In the morning when it’s time to leave, we discuss how the transition will be the least intrusive (sometimes I bring the monitor or baby into the parent’s room). Then I sneak out of the house and lock the door. If I don’t get to talk to the parents before I leave, I will leave a note/update a baby chart, or text message about how the night went and any suggestions I may have.
-
Often times there’s not a lot of time for sleeping between baby’s needs (feeding, diapering, settling), laundry, dishes, bottle/pump parts washing, and whatever else is needed around the house, BUT if there is a time while everything is caught up, I do try to rest in between baby’s needs. A place to rest like a couch, spare bed, or mattress pad on the floor is plenty to get a little rest while I wait for baby to need me again.

Postpartum Doulas charge anywhere from $40-75/hour in the Seattle/Tacoma area. We are specially trained to know how to care for you in the postpartum recovery (physically, mentally and emotionally), care for and teach you how to take care of your newborn as well as support, guide, and enhance our parenting experience.
I have been passionate about birth and postpartum and have been working as a professional doula since 2008. Quality matters! I spend $1000’s on specialized trainings, education, and resources every year to bring your family the most up to date information exactly when you need it. I have attended many trainings, classes, research and read books covering MANY topics so that whatever comes your way in your postpartum period, we can handle together! You’re not only paying for the hours I spend with you, but all the years of invaluable experience I have had from working with families since 2008 as well as my own beautiful, yet very challenging, parenting experiences.
In addition, because I know it’s a sensitive time, I often have various baby, pumping, and feeding supplies available to borrow or give you in a pinch. Amazon is fast, but I’m faster!
Lastly running a business is not cheap, so I need to account for all of the business expenses I incur as well as gas to get to you!
With that said, I understand baby’s come with many costs and my goal is to get your family in a place of recovery, confidence, and calm as quickly as possible. The faster you are feeling confident in your parenting, the sooner I can help more families!
On a budget? Let me know so we can work together to get you as much bang for your buck as possible!
